Should I purchase a sclerotherapy injection package? How exactly does it work?

I had a varicose vein treated recently. Most of my spider veins were treated by sclerotherapy, with good result. I still have remaining ones, so I was offered to buy 2 or 4 injections, but I'm not sure how this works. Is it a good idea to purchase the injection package? How many veins will I be able to treat with it? How exactly does it work?

We sell packages at our office. Most people need several sessions to get rid of all of the spider veins. They don't go away in one session.

Every clinic offers treatments in different ways. If you have had good results so far, you may not need to have a package of injections. We typically do not offer packages except in limited amounts (e.g. two treatments). The expertise of you practitioner will determine how much can be done in a treatment. Mostly my patients don't like to tie up too much money in packages except for really great savings early in their treatment cycle. We typically treat for longer than most clinics and are able to cover a lot of areas. Ask your practitioner how much he/she thinks can be done in one treatment. Remember that response to treatment is individual. Two to three treatments may work for some people, while others may take more. Also, you must consider the extent of areas to be treated.

The vein specialist should have an idea as to how many sessions of sclerotherapy is needed based on the distribution and extent of remaining spider veins, reticular veins, and varicose veins. Purchase 2 and see if you need more. Discuss the side effects of individual sclerosant solutions with the provider as well as the difference between foamed and clear solution use. Always choose an ABVLM-certified vein specialist. The doctors in this community (veindirectory.org) are specialists in venous diseases and disorders.

I had sclerotherapy for spider veins performed two weeks ago on my leg. I have been in a great deal of pain since. All my sore spots are large veins in my foot/ankle. On a follow-up, I was told they injected them. When I asked why, I was told that every vein that they can see can be injected in the foot since I have so many. I have a hard time believing this and I now don't trust them. Is any of this true? Also, with so many large veins injected, how long before I can walk without pain?
