This is a common procedure to make the hands look less bony and more youthful. Done by an experienced practitioner, it is safe.

This should be done only by experienced, vascular-trained surgeons. I typically remove large hand veins (half a hand per session) through tiny punctures about a week apart for the sides. Sclerotherapy is useful for smaller veins but you can develop small areas of trapped blood that need to be drained if they occur. In the right hands, there are no unintended consequence.
