My groin incision was red, painful and I got a fever. I got antibiotics but my Dr. said it wasn't infected. It keeps oozing. My skin around it hurts!

I had both GSV ablation done at the same time. He also performed phlebectomy on both legs, although I had my right done previously. I developed these symptoms 6 days after surgery. Fever 102 F, chills, redness around incision and extreme pain. After 7 days of antibiotics, my Dr. said the pathology showed no infection. Although I'm starting to feel better I still have a lot of drainage from wound site. My skin around the incision is extremely sensitive to the touch. It's hard to walk normally.

The drainage could represent lymphatic damage. That usually gets better with time and disappears after the incision heals completely. A temperature of 102 probably reflects infection, but cultures are sometimes negative with certain bugs.

The healing seems delayed, and the fever and redness point to an infection. I would check back with your doctor. He should treat you for a surgical site infection.

Sounds infected, especially with the drainage and fever. Consider seeing your primary doctor.
