Speak to your physician. It is not normal to have bruising this far out. However, you could have discoloration from the vein problems in the first place that looks like bruising. If this is the case, it will take several months to fade.

Usually, at 2 months, things are back to normal. If you are having problems after that time, it is generally recommended that the patient go back to their treating physician to have the area checked.

I am not sure why your ankle would be bruised and swollen, unless you also had veins removed in the ankle. Typically, EVLA is only performed higher in the leg for the GSV and mid-calf for the SSV. Try massaging the area with Demaka or Arnica cream and wearing your hose. Applying low heat to the area frequently can also be helpful. Return to your surgeon for evaluation as these symptoms are unusual.
