My compression socks are leaving a line at the top of my feet by the ankle. Every pair that claims to be my size does this. Are they too small?
Chronic Venous Insufficiency Care -1 answer
I have venous insufficiency. I put compression socks on when there is no swelling; they stop the swelling completely. I use 15- 20mmhg. They all kind of bunch up at the top of my foot where it meets my leg, especially when I'm in a standing position. If I go to a larger shoe size, they go too high and pinch on the back of my knee. What can I do about this?

I have extreme weakness and pain in my legs after VNUS closure and sclerotherapy. Was my femoral nerve severed? If so, what can be done?
Chronic Venous Insufficiency Care -1 answer
I'm a 46 yr old female who had bilateral VNUS closure and sclerotherapy on both legs in 2017. An EMG & nerve conduction study were done. Doc said worst case scenario my femoral nerve was severed. The testing showed no response at all & now I'm living with a lot of painful symptoms. I'm still working full-time but can't climb stairs without railing or get up from the chair, couch or desk without help from my arms. Weakness in my leg & buckling in both legs. Brings me to tears.

What is the difference between the VNUS procedure and the Medtronic Fast Closure procedure? Are these two procedures the same?
Chronic Venous Insufficiency Care -1 answer
Have not had any treatment yet. I just turned 76 and have had pain when walking about a block. I also have a lot of swelling if I'm on my feet all day. My doctor is recommending the Medtronic Closure procedure. I have recently had another ultrasound & he says my condition has progressed. I also have a lot of discoloration around my ankles. My diagnosis is chronic venous insufficiency. I just can't decide what to do.

How can I get custom-made hose? Does my doctor need to make a prescription or referral?
Chronic Venous Insufficiency Care -1 answer
I cannot find a brand compression hose for chronic edema in feet and ankles. They all make painful sausage links. My vein specialist says this ankle restriction is not harmful, but compression is so painful. I cut out the ankle area or refuse to wear them now. I wasted over $500 on many options, even those sold in medical supply stores. How can I get custom-made hose? Does my doctor have to prescribe them or make a referral?

Chronic Venous Insufficiency Care -1 answer
My doctor says there's no guarantee I will feel better if superficial is treated because of the existing deep vein issue.

I've been treated for Chronic Venous Insufficiency; however, my symptoms haven't improved. What else is going on? Why am I still in pain?
Chronic Venous Insufficiency Care -1 answer
I've been diagnosed with vein insufficiency for several years now. I've been treated in both legs. On my right left, I've had Vein Ablation (2 years go) and on the left, I had Sclerotherapy (last year). I still have leg pain, my legs swell. I swear compression stockings and elevate my legs, but it doesn't work. I was also tested for lymphedema but it came out negative. What else could it be? Please help... urgent help needed. I'm 32, no kids

Are my stockings too tight?
Chronic Venous Insufficiency Care -1 answer
I got some custom stockings by a brand called venosan. I got XL in the lowest compression. To knees with open toes. I have venous insufficiency. The thing is they leave a nasty deep red ridge in my feet, ankles, and creases. Is this cutting circulation? I also have minor stocking marks under my knees but nothing serious indicating it is cutting flow. What do I do?

I have varicose veins in the lower leg/ankle area. The area has constant pain, swelling and tightness. What can I do?
Chronic Venous Insufficiency Care -2 answers
I had a vein dissolved by laser 8 years ago. I had tarsal tunnel surgery about 5-6 years ago in the same leg and my doctor said the veins were all in the tunnel. I'm prone to blood clots too. For the past 2 years it's been getting worse: red, purplish color, tight feeling, burning and pain. It keeps causing cellulitis. My doctor won’t keep giving me antibiotics for the cellulitis. I had several dopplers, no clots. I wear compression socks. surgeon said can't do anything because the vein is gone.

What does atrophie blanche mean in relation to CVI?
Chronic Venous Insufficiency Care -1 answer
I have discoloration on my ankle and top of foot and recently noticed a small white center with a little indentation. From looking online, I am wondering if it is CVI with atrophie blanche on my ankle and foot. I have not seen a vein specialist but will soon. Is this from years of untreated CVI? Other than the discoloration which just appeared a few months ago, I do not have symptoms but I stand all day for my job.

Can you have CVI with ankle discoloration being the only symptom?
Chronic Venous Insufficiency Care -1 answer
My 30 year old son has ankle discoloration (which he noticed during the summer) but doesn't complain of heavy or aching legs. He does stand for his occupation as a pharmacy tech and is somewhat overweight. His grandfather had CVI and his grandmother had varicose veins. His mother may also have undiagnosed CVI as she has heavy legs and ankle swelling at times. He is currently wearing 20-30 compression socks until he sees a vein clinic doctor in a few weeks.

Why am I still having swelling and pain flare ups in my left leg after procedure done 2 years ago?
Chronic Venous Insufficiency Care -2 answers
Both legs had Laser procedure. The right leg is healed. The left leg swells daily and with frequent pain. I followed up with Vein doctor, saw a Neurologist, and got a 2nd opinion of another vein doctor. No DVTs. The first vein doctor said possible nerve entrapment. The Neuro. said I have OA in my lower back (no noticeable back pain when leg issue occurred. It came after the procedure). The 2nd vein doctor said not related to OA, all veins look good. No new issues. Sciatica Nerve issues?

I've had a swollen limb on and off for 9 years. It became constant in 2014, so 3 years of constant swollen left limb. I Am 27 now. What could this be?
Chronic Venous Insufficiency Care -3 answers
My foot is worse during the day and deflates when I rest. I itch a lot due to the superficial veins. When it's hot the swelling is worse. I was diagnosed with DVT in July 2014 and after 1 injection of heparin the clot could not be detected. Treatment stopped there. I've visited hospitals in vein, ultrasound and doppler scans reveal normal blood flow. I get pain sometimes and break down thinking if I don't get help then the situation could get worse. Please help with advice. Thank you.

I've had 4 DVTs over a 25 year period and now I'm almost 58 years old. I'm having spasms in my "bad" leg at night. Is it related to bad veins?
Chronic Venous Insufficiency Care -1 answer
My leg is always swollen and the spider veins are worsening in the last few years. I wear a full length support stocking at night. I have strange sensations in the leg that feels like things crawling inside. Only at night these things happen. My spasms used to act up with certain shoes but now it's not picky. My diet is great. My weight is 135lbs on a 5'1" frame, female. I do have fibromyalgia. I'm wondering if I can stop this. It's progressively getting worse.
