I've been having pain in my right hand, wrist, fingers and arm. It started about three weeks ago. What could be causing this? Should I see a doctor?
General - 5 days ago1 answer
I started experiencing pain in my wrist. Pain has escalated to the fingers, hand and up the arm. I feel pain when I try and do actions like opening a door, etc. But I also feel aches with no movement or pressure. I've noticed swelling in my hand and bulging veins. Only on my right side. This started 3 weeks ago. I'm not sure if I should let it pass or go to see a doctor. I am 24, female. Should I be concerned or just let it pass?

Recommended strength of compression socks for 69 yr old with no leg/vein issues, but suggested for upcoming 10hr flight?
General - 2 weeks ago3 answers
No medical vein issues, swelling or discomfort in legs. No DVT. I had a brief conversation with my GP who suggested them, but never mentioned the strength, and now he's out of town. Should I get 15 -20, 20 - 30? I'm a bit confused. Thank you!

Will losing weight help with leg swelling?
General - 1 month ago2 answers
My right leg swells to a 1/2 inch bigger than what it is in the morning. I had an echo cardio gram stress test and an ultra sound which all came back good. My doctor says I have pitting edema. I am overweight. Will losing weight help with his? Also, he says to wear compression stockings. Will I have to wear them forever?

The healthy vein was removed. How can the injured person get better after this mistake?
General - 1 month ago1 answer
The person had burned his leg with limestone but he hadn't had any problems for a long time. But after some time the problems appeared and he went to doctor. The doctor had removed the healthy vein instead of the damaged vein in his leg. Wounds have appeared on his leg and his feet are swollen. What should he do now? How can he reduce the pain and the swelling?

Why do I have a dark discoloration of the tops of both of my feet after bone fusion surgeries in 2006 and 2014? Is this what's called hemosiderin?
General - 1 month ago1 answer
I'm African American and very fair-skinned. I've had bone fusions on both feet due to Rheumatoid Arthritis eating the ankle joints loose. I have a darkening of the skin on top of both feet that has not gone away. I had my left foot done in 2006 and my right foot done in 2014. It looks like low-cut socks were put on my feet, a circle drawn around the tops, socks removed, and the tops of my feet painted a dark brown! If this is called hemosiderin, what can be done to resolve it?

Should I be worried about the varicose veins in my left leg?
General - 1 month ago3 answers
I have discovered very large bulging veins in my left leg from my groin to the back of my knee. The are very ugly in appearance and cause a lot of pain! They have ran a test at the hospital that they say detects blood clots and said it was negative but I am definitely terrified that I have one. At times I also suffer with sharp pains under my left breast and fear it is due to my leg. My primary care giver says that it's nothing to worry about and to wear compression socks. Should I be worried?

Are large blue/green veins on breasts and forearms normal?
General - 1 month ago1 answer
I am menopausal, and I noticed prominent veins on left breast, and some on the right. My forearm veins are prominent also but, right side more than left. The skin on my forearms has taken an odd hue compared to the rest of my body. Smaller veins are visible in my underarm and throughout the underside of my upper left arm. I have large thick blue veins on my lower legs and my thighs are full of swollen masses of spider veins. My legs hurt a lot. I've had them since my first pregnancy.

My wife is wearing a thigh high compression stocking. She gets groin pain. Is that normal?
General - 2 months ago1 answer
Doctors discovered a massive blood clot in her leg when pregnant. It was from her pelvis to her knee. The baby was fine through all of this and my wife had a surgery after giving birth to remove most of the clot. Doctors believe the clot was there before we got pregnant. She had a stent put in and is on blood thinners for life. Currently on lovanox and asprin. She also has a bone growth. Her femur is 3 time the normal size. Nothing doctors can do about that.

How safe is it to get pregnant with varicose veins?
General - 3 months ago1 answer
I am 29 and have two children. With each pregnancy, my varicose veins have gotten significantly worse. I am otherwise fit and healthy. How safe is it to get pregnant with a third child? My mother was told not to have any more children due to varicosities after her 2nd child (but this was in Europe and in the 80s). What are the risks? My varicose veins showed up during my first pregnancy, stayed, and worsened significantly during the second pregnancy (despite daily compression stocking wear).

Why are the Veins in my legs suddenly more visible?
General - 3 months ago1 answer
I have always had visible veins in my legs. Recently I started my career in yachting which requires walking or standing all day. After a two week charter, the veins in my legs have become extremely visible and there seem to be many more showing than usual. The sight of it is embarrassing and I would like to know what the cause of this may be and what I can do to get normal looking legs. I read somewhere that it may be due to leaking valves? Also, I am also prone to bruising easily.

Can you wear compression stocking for 24-36 hours during your duty rounds?
General - 3 months ago1 answer
I'm a medical clerk and we are not supposed to sleep or even sit down for 24 hours during our duty as we have to constantly walk around to get vitals of patients and other errands. My feet and ankles had edema on my first duty because of that. I was wondering if it's alright to wear compression stockings for 24-36 hours straight? Or do we need to give our legs a rest for a few hours?
