Venous Insufficiency Treatment Questions

I have a varicose vein in my left leg. Vein spec said that I had reflux in both legs, even though I am only symptomatic in left. Do I treat both legs?

I have a varicose vein in my left leg. My vein specialist said that I had reflux in both legs, even though I am only symptomatic in the left. Do I treat both legs? I was scheduled to do laser ablation on both legs. I canceled the right leg, only because it doesn’t hurt and doesn’t have a visible varicose vein. The left leg is the one with a visible vein and symptoms. Will treating the visible left leg help the right leg that is not symptomatic but that has reflux?

Should I worry about getting my great saphenous vein closed at 24? I want a second opinion since this is not a usual procedure for someone my age.

I am very active, used to be a professional dancer and now am just an avid outdoors person. I've had varicose veins in my right leg since I was 14. I feel them hurt and throb when I dance and run, etc. I just got an ultrasound and my doctor said my great saphenous vein is letting too much blood flow backwards. He suggests I get the vein closed off ASAP. I have tried compression stocking in activity which help. I'm just worried that if I close it off chances of other ones popping up will worsen.

Can deep vein insufficiency be treated?
Venous Insufficiency Treatment -3 answers
Im 32 years old and have had my saphenous vein removed from my left leg. This has not eased my pain. My doctors have told me that the deep vein in my left leg is insufficient and that the deep vein in my right leg is also headed that way. They have recommended I wear compression tights daily as according to them there is no way to help my condition. Compression tights aren't a bad option unless you live in the tropics. Is there a more permanent treatment for my deep veins that you can recommend?

What range is considered mild reflux?
Venous Insufficiency Treatment -1 answer
I had Doppler ultra sound and have reflux in deep veins behind the knee 1.5. Is that normal or mild? The saphenous vein inside my leg in is 1.2 reflux. I started wearing compression stockings of 23-30 mmHg.

~4w post op saphenous ablation. The vein near the catheter site has been hard for a few wks. Now it's swollen behind the calf, same region. Normal?

I've had some shin discomfort after working out a few days ago but I don't think that's related if I had to give my opinion. My larger concern is I have Factor V Leiden, heterogeneous, to which I had a DVT in the same leg 8 years ago (overweight, narrowed vein, and birth control were also contributing factors). The vascular surgeon told me to take Xeralto for 2 days post op as a precaution. The swelling is softer to the touch, like water retention also. Any reason for concern?

Does phlebitis cause venous insufficiency or is it vice versa?
Venous Insufficiency Treatment -3 answers
I am 20 years old with a history of undiagnosed autoimmune disease, which is currently in an acute flare. After suffering from a case of phelbitis in greater saphenous vein of the right leg for two months, I was just recently diagnosed with venous insufficiency in both the greater and smaller saphenous veins of both legs, incompetent saphenofemoral junction in both legs, and incompetent femoral vein in the left leg. I have unknown family medical history.

Could there be any correlation between my underlying autoimmune condition and this new diagnosis of venous insufficiency?

I had a VNUS ablation 18 days ago and now have a lot of pain in both legs. What could be wrong?
Venous Insufficiency Treatment -1 answer
I had a VNUS ablation 18 days ago and now have a lot of pain in both legs. We did the ultrasound 4 days after the procedure and it was OK. I saw the doc last week because of the pain, and he gave me vasculera for pain and said it could be nerve damage. I still have 3 more veins to close but why now I'm in more pain than before. The pain, it's not at the big saphenous (the one was closed), it's in the back of both legs. When will the pain go away? It's keeping me from normal activities and work.

In addition to above, I was told that compression stockings will need to be worn forever, even though I have no varicose veins. I have major swelling of both calves, ankles, & feet. I've been wearing compression knee-high stockings for 3 months, and I'm still getting pain in both thighs.

Can venous insufficiency affect a man's ability to get an erection?
Venous Insufficiency Treatment -2 answers
On the underside of my penis, I have a long wriggly red vein that swells near the base and spreads out. Also, my dorsal vein is really enlarged and I have severe ED. Getting an erection isn't a problem, but I lose it in a few seconds. I never thought these things could be related, but I am starting to. Is there anything I can do to treat this problem? I have been diagnosed with venous leakage but have yet to find a cause.

Do compression stockings relieve pain in the calf muscles?
Venous Insufficiency Treatment -6 answers
I am a Type 2 diabetic and I lead a sedentary life. The only place I go is to the Dr., and that's once a month. Do you think I am at risk for DVT? I do have pain in my left calf frequently. Dr. has checked it. She says I'm ok, but I don't believe her. She doesn't know about my lifestyle. I went through some deep depression that I'm still struggling with and I didn't move from my chair for at least 6 months. Got any ideas?

I have been diagnosed with advanced deep vein reflux in my femoral and saphenous veins. Since it is untreatable, what can I expect to happen?
Venous Insufficiency Treatment -5 answers
I have had a few opinions given based on all testing performed. I have led an active lifestyle. Before retiring I spent 40 years as a plumber. The last 10 years of my career I commuted 24 miles roundtrip on the steep hills of Seattle by bicycle. I was a premie in 1952 and was what they categorized as an "oxygen kid," complete with compromised vision. Is this reflux issue yet another condition caused by the oversaturation of oxygen at birth?

Is venous reflux a symptom for an otherwise healthy female?
Venous Insufficiency Treatment -6 answers
I'm a 36 year old female, nonsmoker, non-alcoholic with 20.5 BMI. I was recently diagnosed with venous reflux in my legs. I have no genetic history of anything similar & I do not show typical symptoms (no DVT, varicose veins, swelling); however upon the hardening of veins in my legs, I took a doppler exam that showed valves in my superficial vein were not closing effectively. Within a week, vein pain & tingly sensation spread to my arms, hands, feet & head. Is this a symptom of something else?

My 2 year old ultrasound study results were vague. It suggested EVLT. Is there a less invasive treatment?
Venous Insufficiency Treatment -6 answers
Original results from a 2 year old ultrasound said right gsv positive for dilation & venous insufficiency, greater than 2 seconds at junction, symptoms are mild now, but one unsightly varicose vein at top of right inner thigh, about 5mm. I still don't want an EVLT, I’d prefer something less invasive. Also, how do they determine that it's not from pelvic origin or long term constipation/hemorrhoid pressure during a new Doppler/ultrasound study?

I am getting prominent veins in my legs that aren't tortuous but persist even when I’m not working out. How can I prevent this?
Venous Insufficiency Treatment -9 answers
I just started moderate weightlifting a year ago and have noticed prominent veins on my arms, hands and legs that are still present when I'm not working out. They aren't tender or tortuous but I'm guessing they are related to venous insufficiency worsened from valsalva during weight lifting. I'm careful about exhaling when lifting but they seem to be getting worse. I barely do leg exercises so it's not from leaner legs. They are getting very unsightly. What can I do?
