My varicose veins and associating symptoms are still present after vein surgery, why is that?

I had laser vein removal surgery to remove my varicose veins but they are still there. I'm also still experiencing symptoms associated with varicose veins. My doc assured me they would be gone after the procedure. Why haven't they gone away and why am I still having symptoms? Could the procedure have been faulty? Surely the surgeon is at fault and should be sued for misconception and failure to carry out the procedure as promised.

It can take 3-4 months for the varicose veins to shrink after laser ablation operation. Also, maybe your symptoms are caused by some other problem.

The reason your symptoms did not go away with the procedure was because your doc did not really address the problem. Vein disease is primarily an inherited disorder. Treating just a few veins is not going to fix the problem. The reason you have symptoms is because contrary to popular belief, vein disease is not a cosmetic issue. It is a circulatory disorder. This is why docs who treat just a few segments of abnormal veins and leave everything else, never really see their patient's symptoms completely resolve. The only way to accomplish a complete resolution of a patient's symptoms is to address the entire leg and all aspects of the vein disease within the legs. Only then can the doc fix the circulatory defect and make the legs feel and look better. You need to find a board-certified doc who fixes the circulation part of the vein disease. (This normally takes a few months). A single procedure is not going to do it.
