I don't think there is any harm, but it is probably not necessary.

Most people do not need to wear compression at night. The legs are elevated and the venous blood returns to the heart more efficiently. However, in some cases, we recommend compression at night--venous ulcerations (wounds), extreme swelling or lymphedema or inability to remove/apply hose due to age, back problems etc. Many elderly people must wait until someone can help them, so will leave hose on for several days straight. Of course, if you are diabetic, it is important to remove the hose to inspect the feet.

If you have normal arterial circulation and sensation, then there should be no harm if you wear compression stockings at night. However, see your MD for complete evaluation if you have questions.

You can do no harm by wearing compression stockings at night. Compression stockings increase the venous return and reduce the venous pressure. At night there should be less venous pressure because your legs are not dependent. This is why it is not usually recommended to wear the stockings at night. However, if your legs feel good with the stockings then wear them.
