Why was my VNUS procedure so PAINFUL?

I have completed 2 of 6 VNUS procedures. Both times it was extremely painful. I was screaming and crying. My leg burned like it was on fire! By about 15 min after the procedure, the pain was what I would have expected post procedure. From what I have read, this is not typical. I would like to continue the treatments but don't think I can handle the amount of pain involved. Any ideas?

You should not be experiencing pain during the actual VNUS procedure. The most uncomfortable part of the treatment is the administration of the lidocaine into the skin overlying the vein to provide anesthesia so that you do not feel any pain during the procedure.

Six VNUS procedures is a large number. If you have any concerns, it is always a good idea to obtain a second or third opinion on any treatment that is recommended.

This is definitely not typical. I have done over 2000 ablation procedures. There is discomfort while the numbing medicine is injected. However, once the numbing medicine is in (normally 5 to 7 minutes to inject it), you should be absolutely comfortable.

I am also seriously concerned by the "NEED" for 6 VNUS procedures. I would question whether all those procedures are needed. It may be worth a second opinion before you pursue your current plan of treatment.

Ijust had VNUS closure surgery 4 days ago and the pain is minimal. But, I did notice today it feels like there is a throbbing or heartbeat, almost like a twitching or pumping in my upper leg. It doesn't hurt. Is this normal? What's causing the pulsing/throbbing? Also, am I able to tan (tanning bed or stand up) if I wear my support hose so my leg is not directly exposed to the light, and if I don't use tanning lotion on the leg?? When will the fat, worm-like veins go down or look better?
