Can cervical ablation treat pelvic congestion syndrom?

I recently had an emergency c-section and when the doctor cut me open, he found that I have a bad case of varicose veins on my uterus. It is so bad that my OB/GYN is worried I will one day just bleed out. Would a cervical ablation work in this situation?

I don't believe that cervical ablation will take care of this problem. An analysis by venography or MRV will help delineate where the varicosities are, the sources of reflux (ovarian vein, etc) and sizes of the veins.

Cervical ablation will not work for pelvic varicose veins. Pelvic varicose veins can cause symptoms but I have never heard this to be a cause of bleeding.

A cervical ablation would not necessarily take care of the problem unless that is the source of the veins. The source of the problem needs to be treated. A venogram is a X-ray test that looks at how blood flows through certain areas of the body. This exam is great at identifying source veins further up in the pelvis. If the source is lower in the pelvis or elsewhere, then a pelvic ultrasound would be recommended. Be sure to seek out a physician who is accredited by the American College of Phlebology.
