Is it better to have an Ambulatory Phlebectomy before or after pregnancy?

Is it best to wait to have an Ambulatory Phlebectomy until one is done having children or is it better to remove the weak veins in advance of the vascular burden of pregnancy?

Venous disease should be treated before any pregnancy, if possible.

I absolutely recommend treating any venous disease between or before pregnancy. There is no reason to suffer through a pregnancy with varicose veins when they can easily be treated prior.

It depends on how symptomatic the patient is. If it is a planned pregnancy, before is always preferred because venous insufficiency will surgely worsen the severity of symptoms during pregnancy. Sometimes, large veins can predispose a pregnant patient to superficial vein thrombophlebitis, which is very painful.

If you have varicose veins and venous valvular insufficiency, it is better to treat the problem before pregnancies since pregnancies will most likely worsen the problem.

I experienced severe bruising and intense pain 8 days after ambulatory phlebectomy and EVLT. I could not even touch the area from my right groin all the way down to my knee. I followed all of the doctor's orders given post-op. Upon a recheck yesterday, no infection was found, but during the ultrasound the pain upon the docs pressing the area was excruciating and I felt a burning sensation go all the way up leg. What's going on? Could I have a hematoma?
