We recommend that our patients avoid vigorous exercise such as weight lifting for two weeks after EVLT. After 2-3 weeks they can start to resume their exercise regime. Most of our patients are back to their regular exercise routine at three weeks.

There is no scientifically based answer. We know that in the case of saphenous vein reflux, bearing down causes reversal of blood flow in the vein so it would wake sense to avoid this after saphenous vein treatment. Sclerotherapy of spider veins is probably not affected by weight lifting.

In general 2 weeks is recommended. Stand informed that there are no
guarantees if you are lifting really heavy. Squats place the most strain on
leg veins.

Most practices usually suggest waiting two weeks before resuming heavy weight
lifting after having laser ablation. This ensures that the vein does not open
up again. For sclerotherapy, one week is usually adequate for larger veins,
and two to three days for smaller spider veins. You can resume low-impact
aerobic activities like walking, stationary biking, and light weights
immediately after both ablation and sclerotherapy.

This should be determined by your surgeon. My patients typically would wait about 2 weeks or more, and then gradually return to their normal routine. Heavy weightlifting causes you to really contract your abdominal muscles and the large veins there. This can increase pressure in the legs.

I recommend 3 to 5 days to resume weightlifting following an ablation procedure. After sclerotherapy, weightlifting can begin immediately.
