I had an endo laser vein surgery a few years ago and my leg is still swollen. No apparent varicose veins, but just swollen in general. Is it normal?

Is it a known complication of the surgery? I've had both legs done, but only one leg is still swollen (the one that had the biggest varicose problem). I've heard of compartment syndrome, could it be it?

There are many reasons for leg swelling. You do not have compartment syndrome. You should have a repeat venous ultrasound, evaluation of any medicines that you may be taking and possibly further work up for the leg swelling. Follow up with either your treating physician or a vein specialist.

It is not compartment syndrome.
Get another ultrasound to sure there is no reflux.
If there is no reflux then see a lymphedema expert for work up.

Deep venous insufficiency and lymphedema may cause leg swelling too. Compartment syndrome issues with vein procedures is a rare event.

By still swollen It sounds like your leg was not swollen before the treatment and is now swollen . Compartment syndrome is unlikely but your surgeon should be able to give you an explanation . I recommend you discuss this with your doctor.

Persistent swelling after vein ablation treatment may be due to one of several reasons. Starting from incomplete vein treatment due to reflux in distal saphenous veins to untreated incompetent perforators or residual varicosities needing sclerotherapy are all possible causes of persistent swelling. Another reason may be outside the venous system, such as cardiac issues, medicines causing fluid retention etc. So the first thing will be to evaluate for any residual vein problems by visiting your vein specialist and then exclude these possibilities one by one.

Unlikely to be compartment syndrome. Have you gone back to see your physician? It is possible that the previously ablated vein has opened back up again. You probably need another ultrasound evaluation to see what is going on.
