Purple veins on my wrist, should I be concerned?

I occasionally have pain in my hands. I noticed one vein in particular is dark purple and appears to be purple to other people. But one vein next to it looks fine. I'm kinda worried but nor sure I should be. Do I have anything to worry about?

I do not have the benefit of being able to examine you but I am almost certain the veins have nothing to do with the pain in your hands. That is more likely arthritis or tendinitis.

When someone has pain in an area and focuses on it, we often have patients say it is the veins that hurt. It is usually focusing on something physical in the area. I see this with spider veins around the knees. The patient may have arthritic changes in the knee but they feel it is the spider veins hurting. Veins in any part of the body can be different colors. I would try not to focus on it. Normal veins can be blue, green, purple, or greyish looking.

It sounds like a normal variant. If you are worried, see a vein specialist.
