What kind of compression stockings should I wear after foam sclerotherapy?

Should they be 20-30mmHg or 30-40mmHg?

After sclerotherapy, you should wear 20-30 mmHg compression stockings for 24 hours without removing them. Then only daytime for two additional days.

Generally 30-40 is most effective, albeit difficult to put on. Long term success of any vein treatment depends on compliance with post procedure compression.

That depends on your doctor. Many recommend 30-40 mmHg, but I get good results with 20-30 mmHg so that's what I use.

Either one will work just fine provided that your wear them. Many patients find the 30-40mmHg so difficult to put on and to keep on that they just do not wear them.

It depends on the size of the vein as well as other factors. Larger veins require more compression and for longer periods of time.

The strength of compression varies from physician to physician. In our clinic we mainly use 20-30 compression for sclerotherapy. However, for foam sclerotherapy, depending upon the size of the vessels treated, we may use 30-40mmHg. I do know that some centers use as low as 15-20 mmHg compression.
We typically use the 20-30 mmHg for women, Sigvaris Eversheer, and my patients tolerate and actually like to wear them.
