Will alcohol affect my upcoming sclerotherapy?

I've heard that drinking can dilate blood vessels. Will this affect my sclerotherapy procedure? Should I stay away from alcohol for a certain amount of time? I normally have 1 or 2 drinks 3 or 4 times per week.

Alcohol does dilate blood vessels but won't have an effect on your treatments as these are very small vessels. Enjoy!

This should not be a problem as long as the drinking is at night and not excessive.

I don't think it makes a difference in regards to sclerotherapy, but it may not be good for your overall health.

No, there is no reason why alcohol consumption would affect the results of sclerotherapy.

Probably not a big problem, but I would avoid alcohol for 24hrs before injections.

The vasodilatory effect of alcohol only last for a few hours, less than four to be exact. So, it should not matter if you drank alcohol the night before unless you had quite a few drinks. Depending on your size and sex it would be at least 4 to 6 drinks which is more than you drink in a week. In summary the moderate drinking you describe should not have any effect on your sclerotherapy results.

I usually tell patients to avoid heavy alcohol consumption during treatment. However, a drink or two won't be harmful
