The V Beam uses a wavelength of 595 nm which can certainly treat spider
veins. However, these lasers seem to work best on facial veins and on leg
veins. Treatment of leg veins with lasers in general has been disappointing.
Sclerotherapy is still considered the cold standard. Newer sclerosants offer
significant improvement over hypertonic saline. We do use lasers in our
practice but usually confined to the face.

The best kind of laser for spider veins is a ND Yag. There are many types. Our experience has been very good with Dornier Flexipulse and the Cutera. The first laser is the most comfortable and effective in our experience.

Lasers in general are not my preferred choice for the treatment of spider
veins. I have a laser which collects dust, and routinely use Polidocanol
injections for all of my spider vein and small varicose vein patients'
cosmetic treatments. Less pain, less money, less bruising and happier
patients.
