C. Ray Workman, MD, FACS, RVT

Best vein doctor, Dr. Workman is a native of North Carolina having been born and raised in Charlotte. He attained his B.S. degree from Clemson University and his M.D. degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. He then completed his general surgery internship/residency at Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, GA. He served in the United States Army as a general surgeon at the 121 General Hospital in Seoul, Korea before returning to Walter Reed Army Medical Center where he completed his vascular surgery fellowship.His training included intensive exposure to complex venous disease which is rare for most vascular surgery fellowships. Following his fellowship, Dr. Workman was stationed at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, El Paso, TX where he eventually served as the Chief, Vascular Surgery. He also ran an independent vein practice in El Paso. Dr. Workman joined Novant Health Vein Specialists in 2004 after leaving the army as a Lieutenant Colonel. Dr. Workman takes an individualized approach to vein care. Each patient presents with a unique set of problems and deserves to have a treatment plan tailored to their specific needs. He believes that anyone seeking an expert in vein care at Novant Health Vein Specialists will be completely satisfied with all that they have to offer.Dr. Workman is board certified in vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He has been instrumental in developing Novant Health Vein Specialists into a well-known center for expert vein care. He and his colleagues provide cutting edge, state-of-the-art service for everything from spider veins, to varicose veins, to complex venous disorders. Dr. Workman has continued to stay focused on the latest treatments for vein disease by attending national meetings of the American Venous Forum and the American College of Phlebology. He is one of very few vein experts in Winston-Salem who can offer the entire range of treatments for venous disease including endovenous techniques for complex venous ulcers and pelvic congestion syndrome.



Joel Deonanan, MD

Dr. Deonanan is a native of Elizabeth City North Carolina. He graduated from University of North Carolina at Wilmington and began his medical training in Winston-Salem. Graduating from Wake Forest University School of Medicine Dr. Deonanan decided to continue his General Surgery training at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He continued his training in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He is a board certified in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery.Joining Novant Health Vein Specialists in 2011 he brings with him his knowledge of cutting edge contemporary management of varicose vein disease. Dr. Deonanan and Novant Health Vein Specialists have become the premier authority on treatment of venous disease in the region.



R. Bradley Thomason, III, MD, RVT

An affiliate with Novant Health Vein Specialists, the vein experts in Winston-Salem, Dr. Bradley Thomason is another partner at Novant Health Vein Specialists. He has been in the practice of vascular surgery in the area since 1994. While his partners are known as the varicose vein specialists in Winston-Salem, Dr. Thomason has become more involved with wound care initiatives in our region.Dr. Thomason is a native of Lexington, NC and graduated from NC State University in Mechanical Engineering. After attending the WFU Bowman Gray School of Medicine, he did a surgery internship at the Medical College of Georgia, then returned to Winston-Salem to complete a residency in general surgery at WFUBMC. After practicing general and vascular surgery for three years, he resumed training with a Vascular Surgery Fellowship, serving as the first vascular fellow at WFUBMC. He is board-certified in general surgery, surgical critical care, and vascular surgery. Novant Health Vascular Diagnostics was born out of his interest in non-invasive vascular imaging, and the needs of his patients. He serves as Medical Co-Director there, and is also an Registered Vascular Technician.As his partner’s vein practice at Novant Health Vein Specialists practice grew, Dr. Thomason felt compelled to take a more active role in the treatment of diabetic foot infections, a problem of increasing magnitude in our population. This has led to his current role as Medical Director of Novant Health Wound Care-Charlois and director of wound care services at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. Along with Novant Health Foot and Ankle Specialists, he is one of the physician leaders in the Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Limb Preservation Program, a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary team effort directed at helping patients deal with limb-threatening problems.We have a great team of health care professionals at our vascular center, from the front desk, to the nurses, to the vascular lab, to the physicians, and we take pride in providing compassionate care for each our patients.



Phil Moore, MD

Dr. Phillip Moore was born and raised in Hampton, VA, but has been a resident of Winston-Salem, NC for the past 17 years. He is a board certified vascular surgeon in Winston-Salem with the Novant Health Vein Specialists. He is trained in the latest techniques for the treatment of all aspects of venous disease, including varicose veins and spider veins.Dr. Moore received his undergraduate degree in Biology at Wake Forest University and went on to receive his medical degree at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Later, he would complete a residency in General Surgery, and a fellowship in Vascular Surgery, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He has now dedicated his career to the treatment of patients with vascular disease in the Piedmont Triad area.While maintaining an active practice in all types of vascular surgery, Dr. Moore has developed a concentrated interest in the treatment of venous insufficiency. As a varicose vein specialist in Winston-Salem, Dr. Moore has successfully treated a wide variety of patients, ranging from those with severe venous stasis wounds, to others with unsightly spider veins. He takes pride in his ability to provide a comfortable and safe environment in which patients can receive modern and comprehensive treatment of their venous disorders.



Shawn Fleming, MD

Dr. Shawn Fleming was raised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. For his undergraduate studies, he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a student athlete. He moved to Winston Salem in 2000, where he received his MD from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He elected to stay in Winston Salem for his residency in General Surgery. In 2011, he completed his fellowship in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Wake Forest University.Dr. Fleming Started his private practice career in High Point North Carolina at Cornerstone Surgery where he focused on the treatment of basic and complex venous pathology using endovenous laser ablation and sclerotherapy. He joined Novant Health Vascular Specialists in March, 2013. Dr. Fleming holds board certifications in General and Vascular surgery.



Ashley Rickey, MD

Dr. Ashley Rickey recently completed a vascular surgery fellowship at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Before that, she was a general surgery resident at the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed a bachelor’s degree at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina, before going on to complete medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.Rickey will be joining Novant Health Vascular Specialists and Novant Health Vein Specialists, which has locations in Winston-Salem and Kernersville.



Jean Goff PA-C

Jean Goff PA-C attending undergraduate at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. After earning her degree in Public Health she moved to Winston-Salem to attend Wake Forest University to earn her Physicians Assistant. Since graduating Goff has been practicing with Novant Health Vascular Specialists and Novant Health Vein Specialists, which has locations in Winston-Salem and Kernersville.
