Hello, i have a varicose vein on my right leg on the calf muscle, i have been for a consultation and have been told i need laser treatment
I have been told i need laser treatment which is fine, but I'm worried about nerve damage. I am 31 years old, a kickboxer and run a very busy buisness. I can't afford to have a limp as this is life changing. What is the chance of this happening with laser treatment? It's really bothering me and putting me off the idea of having it done privately. Is there a way they can protect the nerve before laser heats up the vein? Realistically am I going to get drop foot or am I just over thinking?

There is a 1-5% chance of having nerve damage from thermal ablation.

Some of the surgical procedures had the risk of complications like nerve damage as well as long recovery time after the procedure in the past. Currently, minimally invasive procedures are available to reduce that risk. Discuss with your vein specialist provider measures that are taken to avoid nerve damage including ultrasound guidance and access area above the knee or right below the knee in the proximal calf. Make sure you communicate and discuss any concern and question.

I had EVLT about 2-3 weeks ago and I'm still experiencing sharp pain. It's mostly when I stand or walk. Even when I wear a compression stocking during standing or walking, there is no relief.
