Is this normal? I had vein ablation two years ago. My legs hurt if I sit or stand for a while. It feels like the veins left cannot handle the job.

I had the ablation done to both of my legs. I did NOT have pain aches or tiredness in my legs. Now my legs are painful, tired, and achy all day. I can feel one of the veins that was shut down, especially around my knee and top of my thigh. The hard vein hurts. The lower part of my leg is a bit numb now from nerve damage. The doctor told me nothing can be done as he fears making numbness worse and pretty much sorry your legs are tired all day, not sure why. It looks OK.

I am not sure why you were treated if you had no symptoms, unless you had varicose veins. Insurance pre-requisite is to be symptomatic and affecting activities of daily living. It is not normal to experience your symptoms this long AFTER an ablation especially nerve damage (numbness). If the vein in your knee area was a large saphenous vein which was sealed, it does take time to resolve. Your body must gradually absorb this. I would recommend massaging the area with a little pressure to get the tissue around the vein moving. Sometimes there is a little scar tissue and this will break this up. Also massaging in the area of numbness several times per day may help. Perhaps try a light compression hose to see if this makes a difference to how your legs feel. It also may not be related to your veins.
