Is it ok to do sclerotherapy during menstrual cycle?
Yes, it is OK. However, often women are more sensitive to pain during this time and the small needle pokes required may feel more painful. Also, often patients take non-steroidal medications (like Advil/Motrin) for control of menstrual cramps and these medications are contraindicated following sclerotherapy. They predispose to bleeding and hyperpigmentation.

This is a great question.
Veins of the lower extremity often become more dilated just prior to menses due to hormonal influences. Patients who are symptomatic are often more burdened just prior to the cycle.
Sclerotherapy at the time of your menstrual cycle, however, should not be a problem. The sclerosant concentration should match the size of the vein being treated, leading to an appropriate treatment. When followed by wearing properly fitted and manufactured compression stockings, significant clearance should be expected.
If you have leg symptoms with your cycle, you may find quick relief of those symptoms with treatment. Thus timing of treatment with your cycle should be a personal preference, and not one that will influence treatment outcomes.
Our only additional advice is that you seek a credentialed vein specialist for your care and that you acquire an accurate diagnosis before treatment. This combination will enhance your chances of seeking the outcome you desire.

It is certainly safe. Female hormone tend to dilate the vessels a little and some people are a little more pain sensitive at this time, but there are no contraindications otherwise.
