Three months post-EVLT and 2 months post-sclerotherapy, I still have pain & heaviness. Why is this happening? What should I do?
Three months post-EVLT and 2 months post-sclerotherapy, I still have pain & heaviness. Also, the injection sites are still very sore. My doc said I should be fine by now since my ultrasound looks OK. I was released from his care with no answer. Any thoughts? nerve pain?

This pain may or may not be related to the EVLT procedure. It would be prudent to have a follow up ultrasound to look at the area of pain as well as the deep system. There are many potential causes of the pain including superficial phlebitis, contraction of the treated veins and, remotely, DVT.

The sore areas are most likely superficial phlebitis. Those heal on their own but heat and NSAIDs like Ibuprofen as well as compression stocking help speed healing along. As for pain and heaviness, if the ultrasound showed the veins closed that were treated and no additional vein reflux then I would explore other causes for leg pain.

There are multiple reason for leg pain and swelling.
1. Lymphedema
2. Venous Insufficiency
3. Gout
4. Arthritis
5. Injury to tendons and muscle
Pain could be because of all above plus nerve injury or damage.

I had EVLT about 2-3 weeks ago and I'm still experiencing sharp pain. It's mostly when I stand or walk. Even when I wear a compression stocking during standing or walking, there is no relief.
