Can laser light therapy be used to remove a dark spot on my face? Or, is there another procedure you think is more effective?

I have a dime-sized birthmark on my left cheek (brown in color) and have been using tri-luma to lighten it up, but I am still not getting the results I want. is laser light therapy effective at lightening the area up more? Or, do you have any procedures that will accomplish this?

There are many different wave length lasers that treat different skin lesions. You should see a dermatologist with experience in treating these areas.

Yes, Broad Band Light or Intense Pulse Light Therapy is very effective in treating these types of lesions. Look for an experienced person who can analyze your skin, the type of birthmark you have and various treatment options. Depending on the size and depth of the lesion, you will most likely need several treatment sessions.

I would recommend laser over IPL (light) therapy. As long as you have clearance from your dermatologist, either Ruby 670 or Cutera PicoGenesis 670 or 532 wavelengths may be able to help with this. Not all pigment responds the same so perhaps in the hands of an experienced practitioner you could have some test areas to see which offers the best result. Again, not all pigment responds.
