Compression hose

I bought compression hose online at a doctor recommended site. Does the tightness and compression in the stomach cause a problem from the hose? I thought you want to avoid tightness in the stomach area.

We only recommend thigh high hose not panty hose. However the abdominal
compression should not be a problem if fitted properly.

It is possible that the size is not appropriate for you.

It's not an issue, but if it is uncomfortable for you, ask your doctor if you can wear the thigh high hose instead of the "pantyhose" type.

We rarely recommend pantyhose for this reason unless for pregnancy support. If you are traveling in a car or flying we recommend loose fitting, less constrictive clothing anyway. Our patients are fitted into thigh or knee length hose. All brands are different. Some compression pantyhose have an adjustable waistband. Such as Bauerfeind.

I assume you purchased panty hose. Generally tightness there is not a great concern if the legs have compression as well.

If no discomfort then everything is likely OK.

The purpose of medical grade compression hose is graduated compression from the foot up. The compression should be greatest at the level of the foot and ankle. If your abdomen is too tight then you should have the stockings evaluated for the proper fit.

My vascular surgeon did an ultrasound and prescribed endovenous laser ablation. She also suggested that I wear compression stockings after the procedure. However, due to severe psoriasis and eczema on my feet, I cannot wear full-coverage stockings that cover them. They must always be in wet dressings, but cannot be fully covered. Would footless compression stockings be just as effective as full-coverage hose following the procedure?
