Where can you have custom compression hose made? When I first get hose, they are fine, but within 3 days they seem to stop fitting right and cause my lower legs to be irritated. I've already checked my measurements and have been remeasured. Where can I get custom fit compression hose?
You could purchase compression hose from a local hospital supply company or from a physician who treats varicose veins. I would explain the trouble you have had with compression hose in the past. They should be able to steer you in the right direction. We sell compression hose in our office and most of our patients are very happy with our selection. Once in a while a patient purchases the compression hose online and they are disappointed with the quality or sizing. You should read the washing instructions too. Our stockings can go into the drier after washing and that helps to keep the stretch in the hose. What type of irritation are the stockings causing? Could it be a reaction to your clothes detergent?

Custom fit compression hosiery can be obtained at a vein specialist's office or at stores that supply them. I favor the doctor's office for accuracy and consistency.

My question is if they are thigh length or knee length. It is unusual to have a problems such as yours. My concern is with your legs becoming irritated and what the cause it. I do not feel that custom fit hose will be the solution to your problem. You did not mention why you wear the hose?
Certain factors can contribute to irritation wearing hose.
Firstly wash before use. Do NOT use fabric softener, bleach of any kind, woolite etc. Plain soap, no additive.
Secondly do not use product on your skin with fragrances, soaps, lotions etc. Use only moisturizers without a petroleum/Vaseline base.
Ensure the stockings are well pulled up through the ankles and re-fit during the day to ensure this.
Are you removing the hose at night? Your skin typically recovers if you do this.
I would recommend trying a different brand of hose, look for a high quality brand which makes medical grade compression, stretch fibers are wrapped and the hose have good "memory" and therefore have more stretch. Some companies make a natural rubber hose with cotton wrapping which is often suitable for people with sensitive skin. We use several brands, one of them includes Sigvaris.
Custom compression are very expensive and are only for extreme sizes or problems. The fabric won't be any different.
