My procedure was 24 hours ago and the fluid is still coming out. It's coming out very slowly near my knees and by my groin. The fluid is mostly clear — no odor. There's no heat coming off my legs and I feel fine except for my clothes being wet.
The local anesthesia (tumescent fluid) usually leaks out for a day or so. It's unusual to last more than that. I expect it will stop shortly. If it doesn't, I recommend you contact your surgeon.

That is normal. There was a lot of fluid infiltrated around the vein during the procedure to numb it and to create a heat sink to protect your leg from the laser. Some fluid is absorbed by the body but it often goes out the path of least resistance; the needle hole that it went in.

Yes, this can be normal. You should have been provided post-care instructions from your provider. If you did not, call them and request a copy.

This leaking of fluid is due to the tumescent anesthesia used during the procedure which leaks out through the small puncture holes or holes from the microphlebectomy incisions if they were also done. This usually spontaneously resolves over 2 to 3 days. This is a reason to wear compression post treatment.

The first day, some of the local anesthetic will leak, but this rarely lasts longer than a day or two after the procedure.

I am not certain as to which procedure you had performed. If it was endovenous ablation, the drainage should stop within 24 hours. If you have any incisions made, the drainage should discontinue in 24-48 hours.

I am assuming that you had a stripping procedure, because it is unlikely for people post laser ablation procedure to have any drainage at all beyond an hour or so after the procedure. Even then, that drainage is typically just the residual numbing liquid we inject into the leg. Since the liquid is probably just serous liquid, and is clear, it is unlikely you have an active infection at this time, but if the drainage continues, I would definitely have your leg evaluated.

It may be possible that what you are seeing is the local anesthetic leaking out. I would normally keep a dressing and hose over these areas for the first 48 hours, which avoids this situation.

The fluid is the local anesthesia coming out through needle holes. The hole will seal in another day.

For radiofrequency and laser vein ablation, tumescent fluid is put in to your leg around the vessel to be treated in order to numb, compress the vessel and insulate the surrounding tissues. This fluid is absorbed by the kidneys, but some will leak out of any holes that were made in the skin. Fluid will go the path of least resistance. The leakage of fluid should stop in a day or two. Use some gauze under your dressings to absorb the excess fluid.

It is not uncommon to have some fluid oozing out of the leg after venous ablation for 24-48 hours. It is the fluid that was injected around your vein from surrounding tissues in order to prevent the heat of vein ablation from heating/burning the surrounding tissues. You don't have to take any remedial measures. I always encourage physical activity, such as walking for 30 mins, after vein ablation procedures, which helps absorption of fluid in the body.

No worries. This is the remnants of the tumescent anesthesia that was used during the procedure. It should last another 24 hours at most, then cease. If it persists, give the doc a call.

Following vein closure, it is not uncommon for clear or pink fluid to drain from the thigh where the procedure was performed. This is simply the fluid that was injected along the length of the vein to provide compression and anesthesia. It should not concern you. Typically this won't last past one or two days.
