If it has been 6-7 months since your ablation procedure, it is probably worth being re-evaluated to confirm that the vein is closed and new varicose veins have not developed since the initial procedure.

The laser works by heating the saphenous vein, and the most heat is applied to the upper inner thigh where the vein is the largest. As the vein contracts from the laser, there is associated discomfort. Your symptoms are very common post-laser ablation. Wet heat to the tender areas and ibuprofen will help.

Pulling or soreness in the area is very common. Some people feel it right away, while some feel it weeks or months later. It is the result of the treated vein scarring down and going away. If you have concerns or questions, it's always best to check with your surgeon to be sure.

My question is did it hurt the whole time or just recently? I would get a new ultrasound and see what is going on if the pain is new. If it is old pain, I would talk to your doctor about the pain as maybe the laser irritated the tissue around it.
