Following sclerotherapy, we typically recommend 20-30 mmHg thigh-high compression stockings to be worn for 1 week, during the day.

After having your veins injected, we typically recommend that thigh-high, 30-40 mmHg graduated compression stockings be worn.

A general question with a general answer. Graduated compression hose are most often prescribed after veins are injected with a sclerosing agent. There are numerous materials and styles of compression hose but most are measured and fitted to the patient, and usually 20-30mmHg or 30-40mmHg compression hose are used. Most vein care practitioners prescribe compression hose after visual spider vein sclerotherapy but some, including myself, do not (except when spider veins are large and bulge the skin). After ultrasound-guided injections, compression hose are usually prescribed.

It depends on the size and extent of veins. Normally, 15-20mmHg, 20-30mmHg or 30-40mmHg compression is used from 3 to 7 days following vein treatment. Reverse gradient compression will be prescribed by your vein specialist. Sometimes, no stockings are recommended at all.

We recommend 20-30 mmHg knee or thigh-high compression hose, depending on what area(s) are being treated.

We recommend a thigh-high of 20-30 mmHg compression. This is what is supported by studies.

We use 20-30 mmHg compression, either knee- or thigh-length depending upon areas treated. I have my patients wear them 24 hrs a day for 3 days, then during the day for up to 4 additional days. They can be removed to shower. I recommend a good quality hose such as Sigvaris, which is more comfortable.

I recommend compression post-sclerotherapy for 48 hours and 20-30mmHg compression is adequate.
