I was measured and given thigh high compression stockings at the doctor's office but they are uncomfortable at the thigh, ankle and behind knee. I purchased knee length online only to find that they are too long. Can I cut them so they fit below the knee? I feel like I've wasted my money. Thanks in advance.

My Dad got sigvaris 20-30 mmgh socks. He lives in small town and a doctor is rarely available. We don't really understand why he has leg Swelling. I bought him Activa 20-30 mmgh stockings. He finds them too high for his leg, compared to the Sigvaris. Any recommendations?

I have had an echo cardio gram and ultra sound of the leg and a stress test—everything good. But I am overweight by about 80 pounds. My doctor says to wear compression stockings for my leg swelling. Will the swelling go down after I lose weight? Will I have to wear these things forever? My legs are only have about an inch of difference.

We just recently found out my 57 year old father has blood clots in his legs. He had and ultrasound but we are waiting to hear back from the doctor. He was given xarelto and compression socks but they did not specify that wearing them over night is a no no. He woke up this morning and can barely walk on that foot now. Will it be okay or should I take him to urgent care?

Should I wear a compression stocking while I have a DVT and a fractured ankle? The ankle cast was removed temporarily to monitor the DVT.

I fractured my ankle and wrist three weeks ago. The pain in the leg also revealed a 20 year old nonunion fibular fracture. An 8 cm piece of fibula seems to be floating near tibia. This leg has also had two femoral artery grafts in the past 40 years due to a car accident. Major veins in this leg were used for grafts. Two months ago I had a stent in this graft as it was blocked. I am immobilised in a wheelchair as I can't use crutches due to my fractured wrist.

How high should thigh high compression hose go up on your leg?
Compression Stockings - 1 month ago2 answers
I've been prescribed 20-30 mmHG compression thigh high open toe hose and they are a short length. When I put them on they went all the way up to the top of my leg (groin area). I was wondering if I stretched and pulled them too much when putting them on or if this is ok to go that high. The doctor stressed to have no wrinkles in them.

Compression Stockings - 1 month ago1 answer
I've just had knee surgery and I'm instructed to wear TED hoses for 6 weeks. I think 6 weeks is a fairly long time, so I wonder if I should wash them at least once every 2 weeks. Can they be washed? Will elasticity be lost after washing?

Should I wear thigh high compression while doing hight intensity effort?
Compression Stockings - 2 months ago1 answer
I have distended veins in my lower leg from a dvt, post acl tear. Veins are pretty large with valve damage, which has led to some superficial clotting. I mountain bike, so my heart rate can be through the roof. I'm wondering if I should be wearing the tight compression while doing such long term effort? I feel like since hr is so elevated, veins shouldn't have a hard time pumping back up to heart, and compression could contribute to slow flow in superficial area, leading to clotting. Any advice?

For someone with varicose veins in the feet (red spots under the skin, not sure if it's a complication of varicose veins) is it safe to use compression stockings with low pressure without a prescription? Or could it do harm, knowing that she didn't get diagnosis of varicose veins or anything?

Is it OK to wear a compression sleeve around a pretty big bruise on my arm (elbow area)?
Compression Stockings - 3 months ago1 answer
I donated plasma on Tuesday, and the nurse jammed me pretty good. Afterwards, it was swollen and sort of bruised. In the days since, the swelling has gone was down. I've seen two doctors, both said it's not infected, just bruised. The past 3 days the bruise has gotten almost 3 times the size and the pain has gone down. I'm just curious if wearing the compression sleeve will be harmful to my bruise. It's pretty tight around the area. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
