Steve Elias MD FACS has been appointed as Director of The Center for Vein Disease at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.

In his new role as the Center’s director, Dr. Elias aims to uphold the level of excellence that he has cultivated since 2001 and throughout his tenure as Director of The Center for Vein Disease at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in New Jersey, an affiliate of Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Elias will continue to serve as Director of the Center for Vein Disease at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center.

At Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Dr. Elias will serve as Associate Professor of Surgery at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, committed to treating all aspects of vein disease in a modern, minimally invasive manner. Dr. Elias has been on the clinical staff of Mt. Sinai since 1991.

"This new appointment will allow me to create the first Center for Vein Disease at an academic institution in New York City,” explained Dr. Elias. “Patients will now be able to get the most advanced minimally invasive vein care on both sides of the Hudson without needing to make the traditional choice between city or suburbs."

Dr. Elias is a fellowship-trained vascular surgeon who has made many contributions to the study of venous disease for nearly three decades, including a 1980s study on the Auxiliary Vein Valve Transplant technique. Dr. Elias is a member of the American Venous Forum, the American College of Phlebology, the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, and the International Society of Cardiovascular Surgery. He is a recipient of the Dardik Research and Education Award.
