The International Vein Congress Brings Vein Care Experts Together

In collaboration with the Society for Vascular Surgery, the 14th annual International Vein Congress (IVC 2016) features live cases and didactic sessions focused on vein anatomy, vein care techniques, and emerging issues affecting venous disease treatment. This three-day event also includes MOC self-assessment and qualifies for part 2 of the ABS MOC program.

The unique live cases are some of the most anticipated events at IVC 2016. Each year at IVC, live cases are broadcast from Miami Vein Center to the conference ballroom, giving attendees an up-close view of the operating room and the cases being presented.

“The Miami Vein Center houses an office-based angio suite, allowing even deep venous interventional procedures to be performed,” Course Director Dr. Jose Almeida said. “At IVC, delegates will have a unique opportunity to interact with real-time cases such as superficial ablations, phlebectomy, and diagnosis and treatment of ilio-caval occlusive disease.”

Case operators interact with a panel of experts as salient points of the case are discussed in detail. The session will be hosted by a moderator who will prompt questions to the physicians in the OR. Attendees are invited to ask questions of the physicians in the OR and of the faculty panel throughout the session. This popular live-case structure ensures all attendees have a clear view of the procedures.

“When we review the course evaluations, the live cases are consistently the most valuable educational medium,” Dr. Almeida said. “We strive to highlight different pathologic variants from year to year, then demonstrate and discuss practical solutions.”

Also returning to IVC 2016 is the popular V2 Symposium question-and-answer session. This symposium, moderated by Dr. Steve Elias, gives attendees the opportunity to ask a panel of experts difficult questions regarding vein care and its surrounding business. The faculty includes the “Who’s Who” of venous interventions. Dr. Seshadri Raju will also be featured during two panel discussions and will present three different talks on vein physiology and pathology, iliac vein stenosis, and arterial stents in veins.

IVC 2016 is only the beginning of year-round venous education. Once the meeting ends, the online learning begins. Vein Global.com is dedicated to keeping venous practitioners engaged between IVC meetings and continues to deliver up-to-the minute content on innovations and exploration in venous interventions through articles, pearls, clinical videos, case studies, and more on-topic areas such as anatomy and pathophysiology, imaging, deep venous disease, and superficial venous disease. The organizers of IVC 2016 are also now accepting abstract submissions. Abstract authors are encouraged to visit and those looking to register should visit IVC Miami for a full list of rules and deadlines.
